THE SHORT VERSION

Check new inquiries, today’s appointments, and anything waiting for your approval. Pick a few actions you can realistically handle this morning.

It’s easy to start the morning answering whichever message arrived last. Meanwhile, someone else is waiting for a quote you promised yesterday. Before you get pulled into the inbox, spend a few minutes checking the day. This business owner morning checklist gives you four places to start. Take longer if you need to.

Who is waiting for an answer?

Check new inquiries and unanswered conversations. Look for customers who need something from you before they can make a decision, such as an available date, a price, or confirmation that you can help.

Write down the actual action. “Call Sam about Friday’s appointment” is something you can do. “Catch up on messages” is a task that could take the whole morning. Keep the list short enough that you’ll use it.

What have you already promised?

Review today’s appointments and anything you need to prepare. Check the address, the time between visits, and any materials you need to bring. If a detail is missing, get it sorted before the appointment.

Include the promises that never made it onto the calendar. If you told someone you’d send a quote this morning, add that to the list. A customer waiting for an email won’t know that a busier day came along.

Which decisions need you?

Check quotes, approvals, and payment questions that are waiting for your input. Start with the decision that is holding up a customer or teammate. Some of the other items can wait until you have a longer break.

You may find that you need more information before deciding. In that case, make a specific request. Asking for a missing measurement is progress, even if you can’t finish the quote yet. It also gives you a clear reason to return to the item later.

When will you look again?

Choose a time to come back to anything you haven’t handled. You might make one callback before opening and review the rest after your first appointment. Having a time in mind helps keep the unfinished list from following you into every conversation.

In NextTyr, the overview is a place to start checking customer, appointment, and payment activity. The screenshots below show its desktop and mobile views. You can also use this checklist with the tools you already have; keep it somewhere you’ll see before the first task of the day.
